An Elliptical Orbit Backprojection Filtering Algorithm for Spect

چکیده
An orbit geometry where the central projection ray of the detector is not constrained to pass through the center-of-rotation for all projection angles can be useful to reduce uniformity artifacts and to avoid truncation when imaging non centrally located organs. We present a backprojection filtering algorithm for parallel geometry with an elliptical orbit acquisition and verify the algorithm by computer simulations. We show that the point response function is shift invariant and has an analytical expression which is not the common l/rbut is a function of the orbit geometry.

Backprojection Filtering for Variable Orbit Fan-beam Tomography
Backprojection filtering algorithms are presented for three variable orbit fan-beam geometries. Expressions for the fanbeam projection and backprojection operators are given for a flat detector fan-beam geometry with fixed focal length, with variable focal length, and with fixed focal length and off-center focusing. Backprojection operators are derived for each geometry using transformation of ...
متن کاملIterative and analytical reconstruction algorithms for varying-focal-length cone-beam projections.
In single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), a varying-focal-length cone-beam collimator can be used to reduce the truncation problem and to maintain sensitivity when imaging the organ of interest. The collimator is constructed so that the collimator holes focus to a circular symmetric, spatially varying, focal point function. The focal length increases radially from the shortest foca...
متن کاملSPECT in the year 2000: basic principles.
OBJECTIVE SPECT has become a routine procedure in most nuclear medicine departments. SPECT provides significant technical challenges for the nuclear medicine technologist, as compared with planar imaging, in the areas of SPECT acquisition, image reconstruction, and data processing. Many new advances in SPECT methodology are becoming available, such as iterative reconstruction, multimodality fus...
متن کاملA non-parametric bootstrap approach for analysing the statistical properties of SPECT and PET images.
Knowledge of the statistical properties of reconstructed single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) images would be helpful for optimizing acquisition and image processing protocols. We describe a non-parametric bootstrap approach to accurately estimate the statistical properties of SPECT or PET images whatever the noise properties in the projectio...
متن کاملImplementation of Tuy's cone-beam inversion formula.
Tuy's cone-beam inversion formula was modified to develop a cone-beam reconstruction algorithm. The algorithm was implemented for a cone-beam vertex orbit consisting of a circle and two orthogonal lines. This orbit geometry satisfies the cone-beam data sufficiency condition and is easy to implement on commercial single photon emission computed tomography (PECT) systems. The algorithm, which con...
